In mid September 2008, it had been discovered that the adulterant melamine was added to the milk to cause a false increase in the measurement of protein for dairy products Melamine is an industrial chemical used for the production of melamine resins, which are used in laminates, glues, adhesives, molding compounds, coatings, paper, textiles, flame retardants or superplastisizer for concrete. It is not allowed to be added to food in any quantity.
